Interactions

A. Top Drug-Drug Interactions:

1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).

2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.

3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.

Other Drug-Drug interactions:

  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole (used to manage fungal infection)
  • Protease inhibitors (used to manage HIV infection) Ex. ritonavir, lopinavir
  • Phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine (medicines used for fits)
  • Rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin (medicines used for bacterial infections)
  • Other medicines used to improve blood flow to the penis (Ex. sildenafil)

B. Drug-Food Interactions:

Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:

  1. Grapefruit and Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit can increase the levels of tadalafil in your blood by interfering with its metabolism. This may amplify side effects, such as headaches, dizziness, or low blood pressure. Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Cialis.
  2. Alcohol: Drinking alcohol with Cialis can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effects of the medication, leading to symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Limiting alcohol intake is recommended while using Cialis.
  3. High-Fat Meals: While Cialis can be taken with or without food, consuming it with a high-fat meal may delay its onset of action. Opt for lighter meals if rapid effectiveness is needed.
  4. Caffeine: Though not a direct interaction, combining Cialis with high caffeine intake might worsen side effects like headaches or increase heart rate in sensitive individuals.

Top Precautions

If you have any of the following conditions, you should avoid.

Objectives:The primary objective of this study was to determine whether or not the use of CIALIS can cause clinically significant and/or recurrent erectile dysfunction in men with a previous history of erectile dysfunction.

Design:An observational comparative trial of 5 different CIALIS (5-alpha reductase inhibitors) and a placebo in post-menopausal women.

Setting:The International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5) and the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) were used to assess the impact of CIALIS on the quality of life of patients taking it.

Main outcome measures:The primary outcome measure was the change in IIEF-5, IPSS, and self-perceived quality of life in patients taking CIALIS. Secondary outcomes included the impact of CIALIS on quality of life, frequency of sexual intercourse, frequency of intercourse with a partner, and frequency of ejaculation.

Results:There was no difference in the change in the IIEF-5, IPSS, and self-reported quality of life between the 5 groups, but CIALIS did decrease the change in the IIEF-5 and IPSS. The difference in self-perceived quality of life between the groups was significant. No patient had a history of erectile dysfunction during the clinical study period.

Conclusions:The CIALIS-associated decrease in IIEF-5 and the decrease in the International Prostate Symptom Score was statistically significant.

A new study shows that some bathtubs may cause erectile dysfunction in men.

An FDA-approved drug called Cialis, which is sold under the brand name Viagra, may also cause men to be more likely to have sexual health problems. The drug, which has been on the market for over two decades, has been on the market since 1998.

Cialis was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in November 1998 for men with erectile dysfunction and is available without a prescription.

The study, which involved data from more than 11,000 men, looked at the use of a bathtub-like device that was inserted into the penis of a man who is experiencing erectile dysfunction.

The man was given a bathtub and then a pill-like device to help him achieve an erection. He took the pill and the bathtub was inserted into his penis. The researchers found that the bathtub caused erectile dysfunction in only about 20 percent of the men. The other 20 percent had no effect.

In a separate study of 18 other drugs, the researchers found that the bathtub-like device did not cause erectile dysfunction in the placebo group of 18. The researchers also found that the men who used the bathtub-like device had an erection that lasted for less than four hours.

The bathtub-like device was designed to help men with erectile dysfunction achieve and maintain erections for more than four hours, according to the study. The researchers found that the bathtub-like device had no effect on sexual function or arousal.

The study was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

The bathtub-like device could have been harmful to men taking certain drugs, such as nitrates, because they may cause an erection that lasts for more than four hours. The researchers said they also found that men who took the drug had a slight decrease in sexual desire.

The researchers believe this study may be the first to show that men who use a bathtub-like device don't experience erectile dysfunction in the placebo group. The study is funded by Pfizer Inc.

Other findings from the study also suggest that the bathtub-like device may cause some men to be more sensitive to sexual arousal than the placebo group.

In addition, men who use the bathtub-like device are more likely to have low sexual desire, according to the study. The researchers found that a man who took the device experienced an erection that lasted for longer than four hours. The study found that the men who used the device were able to maintain an erection that lasted for more than four hours.

The bathtub-like device may also have other health benefits. Researchers believe that the bathtub-like device could help men with erectile dysfunction who do not have it. The researchers also believe that the device may also help men who have conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease who use recreational drugs. The researchers said that the study may be the first to show that men who use the bathtub-like device don't experience erectile dysfunction.

The bathtub-like device may also help men who have diabetes or high blood pressure who use recreational drugs.

Other research has also found that a man who takes an injection of insulin may be able to increase the amount of insulin that he needs to get an erection. The study found that men who took the insulin were able to have an erection that lasted for longer than four hours. The study found that men who took the insulin also had lower blood pressure.

In addition, the study found that men who use a "sodium gluconate" drug, or gluconate, may be able to achieve a firmer erection that lasts for longer than four hours. The study found that men who used the gluconate were able to achieve a firmer erection that lasted for longer than four hours.

The study was published in theJournal of Sexual Medicine. It was funded by Pfizer Inc.
